Jenny Boles is a teacher, filmmaker, and artist originally from Wyoming and currently based in Bozeman, Montana. She works across experimental nonfiction film, environmental sound, and installation. Current projects include Palace of Machinery, a four-channel video and eight-channel sound installation about the connections between early film history and factory labor and Virga, a feature-length experimental nonfiction film focused on public lands in the American West. Her work has been exhibited at festivals and venues such as Antimatter Film Festival, Chicago International, New Orleans Film Festival, Alchemy Arts, Mimesis Documentary Festival, DOXA Documentary Film Festival, Florida Experimental Film Festival, FEED Media Arts, Connect Gallery, and Chicago Underground. She has participated in residencies at UnionDocs and FEED Media Arts. She holds a Ph.D. in History from Indiana University and an MFA in Documentary Media from Northwestern University, and is currently Assistant Professor in the School of Film and Photography at Montana State University.
